2026 Final Record: 7-3 | 144 RF, 121 RA, +24 RD
Apparently, unbeknownst to the JM, the powers that be decided against a league-wide doubleheader on Sunday, which started a fiasco with the playoff seeding.
However, MVP controlled the controllable in their win over the Goblins, and will now host the all-time champion Dugouts (5) in the Quarterfinals as the four (4) seed.
This marks MVP’s lowest finish since 2017, also as a four seed, and coincidentally, the rookie season for MVP’s current gaffer, when the aging Loesch-led MVP was at its least athletic.
Hardly an indication of things to come…

The bats were relatively muted in the season finale, but MVP’s defense, most notably from Slim, and timely offense from their two-way star kept them in the driver’s seat throughout Sunday’s victory.

Losing coin toss, yada yada…
After three scoreless innings to kick things off, MVP plated four in the fourth behind a pair of Bettenhauser triples. One of those triples was on a very very foul ball, which would negatively impact Pat later on in the eighth, whose base hit fair was deemed foul as a “makeup”, resulting in Pat’s first, and likely only, career strikeout.
Both squads scored two runs in each of the next two innings, making things 8-4 MVP after six.
A scoreless seventh kept the game within reach for the Goblins as MVP entered into the top of the eighth. Fortunately, the Jewish Shohei was there, providing a Bayberry Special Wall-scraper, giving him some much-needed insurance heading into the final frame. The Goblins added a couple runs, but never brought the tying run to the plate to make things interesting.

No surprises here as One Leg continues to rack up his namesake TOTY Award. In his record 18th season, and 19th calendar year, with MVP, John’s presence continues to lift the clubhouse. A tough season statistically by his standards, you’d never know, and that’s what makes him such a joy to share the field with.
To celebrate MVP’s finest, and longest-tenured, teammate in his 20th year, the Brew Crew will be hosting a One Leg Bobblehead Day in 2027, powered by National Grid.

Playoff Preview
QF Matchup: Dugouts (5) @ Bayberry Park
‘26 Matchup: MVP 12-11
MVP and the Dugouts routinely cross paths in the postseason, including two meetings in the finals, both going MVP’s way (2012 & 2022). However, this arranged date is the second-straight year we’ve seen these two in a QF matchup. MVP won the former game 16-14, also at Bayberry, en route to their sixth title.
This past June, MVP rallied late behind a huge Biemer triple, leading the Brew Crew over the rival Dugouts. In fact, Pat was so pumped about it, he provided a vivid description of that very play, to me, and everything, including the JM’s very successful pep talk, leading up to it, at Big Z’s wedding.
That said, Pat won’t be the only one pumped; the Dugouts will be hungry, and optimistic, given they’ve been right there to the very end in the previous two matchups, especially when paired with their experience in the postseason.
Speaking of playoff pedigree…the fresh stat sheets will be most beneficial to one MVP star.
That’s right, Everett Wehr.
The former MVP Golden Boy as fallen from grace after a disastrous 2026 campaign. The good news? He’s got a clean slate, and who better to have in the heart of your lineup?
Now, let’s make things clear; one player won’t make or break a game, unless it’s me – I’m kidding – but in all seriousness, if Wehr plays like himself, it’ll be a very long day for the Dugouts.
Defensive versatility from Biemer, Crit, and CJ will yield dividends, too, as the JM will look to keep a fifth opponent to single digits this year.
