After a battle-tested July facing two top clubs, MVP heads into the regular season finale against yet another, a doubleheader with the Goblins, where they’ll look to secure the 3 seed.

Coming off Big Z’s wedding, much of MVP’s 14-man lineup showed up late Sunday morning, still recovering, despite the wedding taking place Friday night.
As always, MVP lost the coin toss, and jumped out to an early lead after the first (4-3). That’d be the end of MVP’s fun for the day, being outscored 18-2 the next three innings, and 22-8 for the remainder of the game.
A few overzealous Bullworms even scoffed at the idea that MVP had ever won a game.

While this was quite the beating, it’s not that egregious; MVP’s 2025 club suffered a similar, numerically worse, fate at the hands of the Boys last Fathers Day (33-18), also at the High School Field, and things turned out ok for that unit.

Game 8: Dilfs R Us
Get’em a Brew: Jewish Shohei, SP | 4-5, 2 Runs, 4 RBIs, 2B, 3B, & Winning SP
Following a straight ass-beating the previous Sunday, MVP turned the page in their debut matchup with the newly-formed Dilfs R Us. A bold claim, and one that didn’t resonate with even the most open-minded MVP players, like Donegan.

The Stoner-spinoff, Dilfs, showed up in droves around 30 minutes late. It was then that they still elected to take warm-ups, and conduct a prayer circle around the pitcher’s mound before first pitch. Given the Bugouts arrived around 11 AM for a doubleheader, it was clear the Dilfs truly had nowhere to be.
To the game…
Death, taxes, MVP loses coin toss, and gets an early lead. This time, MVP drove in nine runs to kick things off, much to the JM’s satisfaction, who set a lofty goal of 40 runs for the club. Things were looking even better after he did his part, holding the Dilfs scoreless in the bottom half, after Rob secured a tag at the plate for the final out of the first.
MVP’s offense, however, went flat after the first inning, at times looking anemic, and going scoreless from the fourth through the sixth.
Fortunately, the makeshift “play wherever” defense made up the difference in today’s win, as MVP allowed a season-low four runs, marking the third time the JM has held opponents to single digits in 2026.

Game 9: Boys
Get’em a Brew: Jewish Shohei, SP | 4-6, 3 3B, 4 Runs, 5 RBIs
Arguably the DSSL matchup to watch, this finals rematch was anticipated to be a little more action-packed than the season opener, where the two combined for 13 total runs. The offense was firing for most of the day, but fizzled right when MVP needed it most.

MVP came into Sunday for the DSSL’s Game of the Week, and, surprisingly, the JM won the coin toss, giving MVP last licks when they’d need it most. That said, the Boys took it upon themselves to tag it on early, I mean really tag it on, scoring eight runs to MVP’s two after one.
MVP’s offense picked it up after a scoreless second. Trailing 10-2 going into the third, leadoff man, Pat Biemer, did what he did best: sparked a rally for the good guys. MVP went on to score 11 runs in the next two innings with the JM & Shane combining for six RBIs.
The Boys and MVP would go on trading five run blows across the next two innings; the Boys plated five in the fifth and MVP did the same in the sixth. Ultimately, level after seven at 20.
In the bottom of the eighth, CJ, who was poached by the Boys earlier this year, kicked things off with a single. Another MVP rally? Not quite, CJ would be the lone run, providing MVP the narrowest of margins going into the final frame.
Starting off the ninth, the Boys found their equalizer on the first swing of the inning, leaving a seemingly unprepared Ev in no man’s land. The Boys added another, flipping the scales in their favor going into the bottom half of the ninth.
We’d seen this before: MVP and the Boys trade shots throughout, waiting for the vintage rally from the Brew Crew. The JM couldn’t have scripted it better, especially after Pat led off with a knock. Then, the unthinkable took place: the heart of MVP’s lineup unraveled, 1, 2, 3…
Boys 22-21
Player of the Month: Shane White, 3B
Shane’s July: .750, 9 Hits, 5 XBHs, 6 Runs, 10 RBIs
Despite routinely arriving past 9:30, Shane’s bat came right on time for the Brew Crew. He hit a team-high .750 with 10 RBIs in July, powered by two absolute lasers, one against the Bullworms and, again, versus the Dilfs, in back-to-back weeks.
After a perfect showing against the Bullworms, White recorded seven more hits over the next two games, four for extra bases, generating 12 total runs (5 runs scored, 7 RBIs).
Defensively, White handled the hot corner as well as anyone can with 60 foot bases, and his collective effort has propelled his named into the MVP Award shortlist, and the Triple Crown race, heading into the regular season finale.

Despite the former fuhrer’s finest efforts, DSSL Commissioner, Scott Schmidt, voided MVP’s attempt to post players on the national slowpitch softball transfer list in exchange for beer money.
Had that been the case, the JM would’ve been sitting on a pile of shekels with these three.
Kyle Baylous, PhD | 7 Seasons with MVP, 2019 ROY
Up in Beantown, MVP’s all-time Gold Glove winner, Capt. KB, took his talents to The Softball Team. The defensive wizard is showing how dynamic of a threat he is, but this time at the plate: leading his club to an undefeated record, largely thanks to Capt’s absurd .917 BA, including a three-homer game this month.
He returned for his 7th season during a brief stint on July 12, where he added a team-high three hits against the Bullworms, and he is expected for the finals, should MVP make the trip for a fifth-consecutive year.
Yes, that was a woman was playing 3B.
Tom Brady | 6 Seasons with MVP, 2025 MVP
The former MVP slugger, and 2025 Most Valuable Player, dominated the Montana League as the SS of the Husky Hideaway Boys.
While they finished a dismal 1-9 with a team BA below .500, Brady didn’t get the memo. His .839 BA on 26 hits with 26 RBIs powered by nine (9) HRs in 10 games got a lot of attention, he’s already been recruited by five other tournament teams.
His return to MVP seems far-out, if not entirely improbable, especially considering he’s the favorite for this year’s Sexist Male Athlete in Montana (and, yes, he’s got this blogger’s endorsement).
Ryan James | 10 Seasons with MVP, 2022 Batting Champ
RJ hasn’t made an appearance since June of 2023. Now a father of four, he’s hitting .800+ in a daddy league, impressive, but it’s clear his best days are in the rearview mirror.
To nobody’s surprise, Ryan unofficially retired from the DSSL earlier this year, claiming his Sunday mornings are booked for youth sports through 2040, by then, the original MVP Golden Boy will be dangerously close to his Golden Years.
James is one of two MVP players all-time with a career BA north of .700.
