June Record: 4-0 | 68 RF, 42 RA, +26 RD
2026 Record: 5-1 | 85 RF, 64 RA, +21 RD
A flawless June takes a backseat to the original MVP leadoff man, Chuck Azzara, successfully defeating cancer. Yet again, proving some cats have more than nine lives. Cheers! (Except you, Chuck. Seriously. Stop drinking.) 🍻
Finally, happy 250th birthday America! 🇺🇸
Onto the first half recap…
Game 3: Bugouts
Get’em a Brew: Big Bert, Rover | 5-5, Run, RBI, and spectacular defense
The offense kicked it up a notch as CJ, JM, and Alex each added four hits, Ev put MVP on the HR board, and a tardy Mullahey (3-3, 2 2B) was the blue pill to MVP’s late rally, helping get them back in the W column.
- ‘26 Debuts: Alex (CF/SS), Cirincione (1B/C), & Donegan (LF)
- Yikes:
- Shane gets a flat,
- CJ is poached,
- One Leg’s black, ripped baseball pants get reprimanded,
- and the JM’s divet causes uproar at the latest SWR Board meeting.
Both teams showed up at different fields, ultimately choosing the freshly sodded JV Baseball Field over the dreadful Track Field.
MVP struck the first blow as Ev blasted a two-run shot despite completely missing third base, MVP’s first HR this year. From there to the fifth inning, MVP scored a few times, with the top highlight being MVP’s first triple of the year (JM).
Still, the defending champs found themselves trailing by two against a gritty expansion team heading into the 6th. The JM even hit his version of the panic button: ask the former fuhrer to provide a pep talk.
Before that could happen, fortunately, Mullahey appeared out of the right field bleachers like Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams. He said nothing, grabbed a bat, dug in, ripped a double to left, and scored on a hit recorded the following pitch.
MVP added 10 more that inning, mainly via a string of two-out singles, with the nail in the coffin being four straight XBHs, and a second JM triple to cap it off.
Defensively, MVP was steady throughout, especially late, and particularly up the middle and in the outfield, which, notably, featured actual outfielders.
MVP 16-7

Game 4: Breaking Balls
Get’em a Brew: ZDUB, 1B | 5-6, 2B, 4 Runs, 3 RBIs
For the first time, and probably the last, Ev ran MVP. Simply tasked with assembling 10 guys with a pulse, he did not do that, but it was a convenient week to miss the mark, as his brother-in-law saved the day.
Interim GM Grade: B (Ev)
- ‘26 Debuts: Munchie (3B), Frankie (LF), & MVP’s New White Uniforms
- Cirincione injured his shoulder diving in midweek 60+ league, definitely out for ’26 (CONFIRMED)
- Mullahey SS play reminiscent of 2018 Baga playoff game (UNCONFIRMED)
Already running with nine, T. Loesch, the franchise’s most colorful player, added another chapter to his lore; arriving on time, and then leaving because nobody else did. The shorthanded MVP was without a pitcher, leaving it to the interim GM to take the bump.
On the offensive side, MVP’s heart of the lineup concentrated runs across the first few innings.
Ryan, Ev, Z, CJ, and Rob (MVP’s 2-6):
- each collected at least three knocks,
- the latter two picked up four,
- and the collective combined to score all 14 of MVP’s runs.
The traffic on the bases set the table for first-timer (and MVP’s emergency 8th), Frankie, to cash in with a team-high four RBIs.
On the defensive side, outside of Mullahey’s (alleged) SS escapades, which he openly disputes, the Balls hit three (3) inside-in-the-park home runs, as the inexperienced MVP outfield struggled immensely with scooping up routine hits, and CJ openly stated he could provide little support in backing up.
Tight one, but MVP dodges a bullet.
MVP 14-12
Knicks 94-90 (NYK Wins 4-1)
Following Sunday’s Win Against the Balls…
Former MVP GM, Tom Loesch, was supposedly out, banned for 2026, after leaving a depleted MVP squad hanging, and pitcher-less, on June 14.
Tom, correctly believing he left a poor impression, returned to Bayberry the following Sunday to make amends with his longtime club.
Tom has openly considered the JM a son to him, at times.
Interestingly, the JM, suddenly decisive, made the call ahead of Father’s Day to lift the ban, but not after making him sweat.
Tom is expected to make more appearances in 2026, and remain a headliner for MVP’s inaugural Hall of Fame Class in 2028.

Game 5: Rolling Stoners (Father’s Day)
Get’em a Brew: Alex, CF | 5-5, 2B, 3B, 3 HRs, 4 Runs, & 9 RBIs
Reminiscent of the old MVP, the entire lineup, top-to-bottom, recorded multiple hits in a Father’s Day rout;
- Pat collected four of his own,
- four guys had three hits apiece (Munch, CJ, JM, & Ev),
- Z drove in four runs,
- and the Brew Crew scored a season-high 26 runs, en route to their fourth win of the season.
DNP: One Leg & Shane
- ’26 Debuts: James (RF/1B), Tom (P/LF), & Jack (LF) – MVP Debut
- James teaches ancient Greco-Roman wrestling maneuvers to a surprisingly impressed Jack
- CJ addressed the “Warm Beer” moniker by bringing a cooler
- No postgame BBQ, but Loesch stays for a beer & confirms Wynkoop had a five homer game in 1993
The DSSL has been built across generations, and Father’s Day is always one to circle on the schedule for that reason. Last year, however, MVP spent Father’s Day getting their asses whipped by the Boys.
Fortunately, this game went significantly better; many regulars made the trip to lovely Bayberry Park, a cooler was filled with both domestic and imported beers, and some light batting practice took place. ZDUB approved, saying it was nice to finally recognize the lineup, and to see Brew Crew softball back in full swing.
Pleasantries aside, MVP was not allowing another near-fiasco. After giving up two runs to start the game, MVP responded with six in the bottom half, highlighted by an oppo-taco Ohtanian shot from the JM.
Never looking back, MVP put the game in cruise control following that swing; eight more runs were scored before another Stoner could finally cross the plate again in the 5th.
The real killer was a vintage MVP rally, when the defending champs plated 11 runs in a single inning, (second time in June), this time, featuring back-to-back homers from Alex & the aforementioned JM in the 7th, both logging their first career multi-homer games.
Happy Father’s Day!
MVP 26-12
Game 6: Dugouts
Get’em a Brew: Jewish Shohei, SP | 4-5, 2 Runs, 4 RBIs, 2B, 3B, W on Mound
Five MVP sluggers, and Steve, had three hits (Pat, Rob, One-Leg, Ev, & Shane) – the leadoff man scoring twice and driving home three as MVP closes out a perfect June.
- ‘26 Debuts: Steve (2B) – MVP Debut
- Chris sends passive aggressive text at 9:15, pops up to catcher and plays SS as penance
- CJ hits to same spot four straight ABs, unsuccessful each time
Like clockwork, MVP struggled to field 10, and lost the coin toss, but they capitalized on the chance to take an early lead, and the JM played a hand in all three of MVP’s 1st inning runs: he drove home Pat and Shane, and later scored himself on a groundout.
The seasoned Dugouts responded back with a couple of runs in the first.
Going into the second MVP’s nine hitter seemed out of place, and the scribbles in the book indicate Ev’s arrival time was unclear to the very last minute. Nonetheless, he strolled in and then hit into a 6-4-3 double play, but he was spectacular back in LF, where the Dugouts kept him busy all morning, and where he belongs all the time. Playing SS smh…
MVP entered the 3rd tied at three, and that would be when Shane smoked his first homer of the season, Rob later drove home another two, helping MVP take a 6-3 lead.
The Dugouts were not going down quietly, tying the game at six with four runs in the 4th, and by the top of the 7th, taking the lead.
MVP tied up the score after ZDUB came in on a fielders choice. Following a string of singles, the bottom of the lineup gave leadoff man, Pat, a two-out bases-loaded opportunity to reclaim the momentum, and lead. He drilled a bases-clearing 3B, which proved to be the difference against the longtime rival.
MVP 12-11
Player of the Month (Min. 3 G): Jewish Shohei, P/DH

JM’s June: .733, 11 Hits, 6 XBHs, 3-0 as SP
MVP’s June stretch was one that was expected to help the defending champs get back on course, and the JM’s .733 average was the catalyst in seeing that expectation come to fruition.
Of course, we have to acknowledge his softball genius comes into play, too.
A true SHOwing in June: scoring five times, knocking in eight, six XBHs with a team-high three triples, a multi-homer game on Father’s Day, and three wins on the mound.
Heading into the back nine of 2026, the Jewish Shohei looks poised for a deep August run, so long as he has enough players. Mazel!
Batting Title
Leader: Rob, .679
Rob’s BA jumped over 50 points after racking up a team-high 14 hits across four June games (19 total). While they’re all singles, and the combined exit velocity is that of a free-falling, dying quail, it works.
My favorite, MVP’s leadoff man, Pat, is nipping on his heels after seven hits in his last two games. He’ll need one more AB to qualify for the hardware, but once he does, it could easily become his race to lose atop a hot MVP lineup.
Meanwhile, the unanimous Player to Watch and Triple Crown threat, Ev, has been a bit of a bust. Despite three straight three-hit games, promising, tough showings, relative, against the Bagas and Bugouts leave him on the outside looking in after this update.
He currently trails in all three major offensive categories.

Top Qualified BAs (21 ABs):
- Rob, .679
- Pat, .650 (20 ABs)
