S/O CJ, Mike, Krit, and a partial to Milosh (kidding) for their efforts this week. The Bagas showed good sportsmanship letting Miles join the action; he responded with two strikeouts, a popup to the catcher, and a record-setting fielding session mostly spent punting gravel.
Quick Hits
- MVP Extras: Combined for 12 runs and 10 RBIs
- Donnie: Two 3-run homers, 8 RBIs, and zero visible emotion
- GM hits for the cycle, goes back-to-back with Brady, and threw out a runner from the left field wall. 1-Leg (5 hits) held on at the plate because… it wasn’t Brady
- Bubba Ohtani Returns: 4th win, 7 hits, and 6 runs scored
- Munchie & Brady reap benefits of perfect Bayberry conditions with gold glove defense
- Bugouts brought the juice, the hustle, and their own version of 1-Leg. Honestly, these guys are the best first-year team this league has seen.
- Tapped cooler for the 1st time since Chuck
Game Recap
Most new teams in this league stumble out of the gate. The Stoners couldn’t score for a month. The Cream Team & Sizzlin’ are both cooked. The Breaking Balls currently have a -74 run differential through 4 games. Strangely, the Bugouts hit the ground running, 4-1, with wins over the Bagas and Dugouts. A team worth keeping an eye on.
They arrived looking sharp in baby blues, part Goblins in speed, part Boys in lacrosse mannerisms, and maybe a nod to MVP’s style. After blanking MVP in the first and jumping out to a 4-0 lead, it looked like they had run into their latest upset.
Then MVP scored 28 runs between the 3rd and 5th innings.
It didn’t feel like a blowout in the moment, credit to the Bugouts for keeping energy high and putting up 17 runs. Steve with a great beard sent a moonshot and one guy whiffed so hard, only to launch one dead-center the very next pitch. Even their failed highlight of the day, a Canseco moment knocking a flyball over the fence, was objectively amazing to witness.
Looking Ahead
MVP and their new additions, move to 4-1 and face the Bullworms next week, last year’s semifinal rematch. Something’s brewing.
