As interim GM, it was my responsibility to guarantee a win. It all came down to one thing; the coin toss. As is tradition, we lost the flip.
All part of the plan.
The GM did send in a lineup for today, but as the interim GM I had to make last minute switches (we had 7 guys before 9:30), including respecting a request for Steak (f.k.a. Meat Cannon) to bat second.
Fortune favors the bold, and he got 3 hits.
The interim GM also decided to bat last rather than leading off (thought I should include this because GM can’t cut me).
MVP scratched out an early run from former batting champ John Cirincione, but it was quickly taken away following a mishap at the plate. 3-1 Boys after one.
MVP made light work of the deficit, scoring 7 in the second, stringing together 7 straight hits, including a debut rbi single for Dylan. MVP followed it up with an additional 3 in the third. 11-3 after 3.
MVP never lost that lead.
Innings 4-8 were pretty boring, but someone (not naming names) may or may not have Angel Hernandez’s a call at first. The Boys called it a “pity call”. Was it? Yes it absolutely was. I know that no team will be able to beat us regardless of whether or not we give them calls. I gave them one, and they never capitalized. Sorry, John, but it was all part of the process. Good Karma or not, no one can beat us when it matters.
Either way, MVP tacked on a couple insurance runs and takes the opener 16-8.
1-0 as interim GM, and Zach 1-0 as newly appointed manager. Will I retain my position as interim GM? Alex is missing a handful of games so probably.
Shout out to James, One-Leg and Keith for going 9-9 including 5 RBI.
Farm field vs Goblins next week. Please show up before 9:30 next Sunday.
