Tale as old as time, the Bagas and MVP clashing in the postseason. In the first match-up since 2019’s championship game, we had a field change, a slugfest turned into two teams swinging wet pool noodles, and both pitchers chirping the entire game.

All in all, a classic.

After some warm and fuzzy pleasantries in the pregame, the Bagas were all business, putting on a 4 spot after a few miscues defensively. MVP has done a great job all season responding to adversity and this Sunday was no different. After the GM and RJ got things going, Ev stepped up and delivered a 2-run double to cut the deficit in half. Cirincione stepped up and delivered a single which advanced Ev who later came around on a Donnie single. Thank you for showing up, Michael. Rizz knocked in Cirincione and, with two outs and the game tied, sneaky second clean-up hitter, Shane White, delivered a bullet double to give MVP the lead after 1.

Defensive miscues would ensue in the 2nd for MVP after the GM threw a ball closer to the tennis courts than home plate, giving the Bagas a couple runs in a 3-run 2nd inning. MVP wouldn’t go down quietly in the bottom half as RJ drove Munchie home after an RBI single. An unnamed Baga pitcher, who was surprisingly chipper, made it known he was a fan of Munchie’s nickname and asked for the origin. Nobody responded and we moved onto the 3rd.

In the 3rd, the Bagas scored their last run of the 2023 season and MVP took advantage. After a string of singles by Rich, Rizz, Shane, ZDubs, and KB, MVP scored 2, leaving the Bettenhauser brothers to drive home another 2, giving MVP a 2-run lead. An insurance run courtesy of a Rizz RBI single in the 4th was all the offense on Sunday as MVP went and stayed up 11-8 until the last pitch.

In that time between the 5th and the 9th, MVP was unable to get a runner to second base. Likely due in large part to the original MVP bromance, Joe Mullahey and Dave Wynkoop, showing up. Most MVP players are still scared of Dave. However, MVP’s defense was tighter than KB’s ass, turning two double plays in that time. One of which was the final play of the game after an unnamed Baga batter hit a loopy line drive as if he didn’t want to hurt the ball that was caught by the GM who then doubled up a distracted Baga runner at second base likely on account of the MVP veterans sexually harassing him and his quads while on base.

A great game between two good teams.

FINAL: MVP 11-8

A big thank you to MVP’s vets for their first-class selflessness. Cheers.
