Management may have took a play out of Tom Loesch’s book on Sunday. Earlier this week, the GM embellished a smidge about MVP’s positioning in the league to inspire some fight. Going into Sunday, MVP was 7-1 and the Boys 6-2. The winner of this game would surely secure the top seed and MVP delivered. Now that the Boys have 3 losses, next week’s game has no impact on MVP’s positioning. Here’s the game recap for the regular season champs:
- MVP secures 5th straight top seed (2018-19, 2021-23)
- Mullahey goes 2-3 with 5 RBIs
- Pair of Nick’s go 6-7 combined, one is more vulgar than the other
- Sorrentino quotes NSFW, distracted by Boys’ girlfriends
- Rich masterful on mound, allows 4 runs
It’s always a classic against the Boys and Sunday was no different. In what would be considered the most important game of the season, MVP showed a fight both internally and externally that would make for a great memoir, but we’ll have to settle for a blog.
Prior to Sunday’s game, many MVP regulars were in some rough shape after a late night at Everett’s hot cousin’s house. Those antics would not be limited to the party itself as Jon Rich, at least 7 John Daley’s deep, decided to instigate with another notorious instigator, Tom Loesch, about who is the team ace. Loesch, tired, aging, and a bit cranky, told the team this:

Clearly, Jon’s word struck a chord. A morning check-in from management would put Loesch at ease.
To make matters worse, MVP Golden Boy, Everett Wehr, tried going drink-for-drink with Rich. The TikTok will provide you ample amounts of coverage on how that went. In a pivotal game, MVP’s GM had not the slightest of clues how many players would show up.
To the game.
After a scoreless top of the 1st, the GM singled and came around on a Cirincione single. On that very same play, Everett made what must be his fourth or fifth terrible decision on the base paths. MVP would tack on another 2 in the 2nd after Donnie and Mullahey drove in Rizz and Munchie.
The Boys’ bats woke up in the 3rd after tagging single after single in a “death by a thousand cuts” series of hits, the Boys found themselves leading 7-3. A lead that they would hold until the 8th.
MVP responded with 3 in the bottom of the 4th after Munchie and Mullahey drove in Cirincione, Rizz, and Munchie, himself. Trailing by 1 going into the 6th, MVP took the field and tensions started to rise. After scoring 2, runners on first and second, a Boys player singled to left and, in rare fashion, Ev hit the cut-off man to which Shane snapped a throw to Munchie, deleting the advancing runner. He was clearly out, but Munchie heard a familiar voice make an incorrect call, almost certainly, and effectively, to get a rise out of MVP.
Munchie’s response?
“WHAT THE F*CK CAN YOU SEE FROM THERE?“
Upset Munchie
Jaws dropped across the field as that type of vulgarity is typically reserved for another Bettenhauser.
MVP put on 2 of their own after Rizz and Munch each knocked in a run.
Now the 7th.
This inning was already filled with a bit of tension as MVP players were unsure if Shane White was really sticking to his guns about wrestling Tom Loesch. Fortunately for Tom, that did not happen. However, it wasn’t out of the cards for a wrestling match to unfold on-field. With a run already scored, and runners on the corners and 1 out, a Boys player hit a fly ball to Ev and the runner from 3rd advanced. The runner in 1st, however, neglected to tag up and was doubled up at 1st. Now here comes the question? Does the run count?
After fighting, arguing, and no Pat Biemer to mediate, the GM connected with the Boys, claimed he did not know the protocol and told Guav, known good guy, that the run can count so we can continue. The Boys GM, Connor McAlary, tried to out good-guy MVP’s GM by not counting the run. After deliberation, the field incorrectly nullified the run. This blog is long enough, but their is a difference between a “force out” and a “force play” and this would be a force play. The run proceeding a force play counts. The GM connected with the Boys GM and all is good.
Trailing by 2 (really 3), didn’t really matter after the wheels fell off the bus in the bottom of the 8th for the Boys. Rich and Cirincione got things going and from there, MVP pieced together a much-needed string of hits from Muscles, Rizz, Munch, Donnie, and Mullahey put the Brew Crew up 4.
MVP retired the Boys in order in the 9th to secure the top seed.
FINAL 14-11* MVP
Next week, MVP takes on the Stoners for the 4th time this year. Best of luck to them.
