- MVP looks to stay hot ahead of Bullworms match-up
- Munchie goes cold, sitting out Sunday
- Everett making push for Triple Crown
- Batting Title update
- Better looking, funnier blogger returns
MVP has been red-hot since they essentially handed the Boys a win on a silver platter. Since their week 2 loss, the Brew Crew has delivered a string of hitting clinics scoring 128 runs in 6 games, averaging a cool 28 runs/game. Pretty good stuff from the lads. We can expect a return to the average in terms of runs scored with a functional defense playing on the other side of the field in the form of the Bullworms.
Even with MVP being as hot as they are, they are missing a pair of former batting champs as of late. Ryan simply doesn’t come and, as a result, is likely going to forfeit the batting title. It appears raising the at-bat minimum has weeded out the uncommitted. Munchie, on the other hand, has actually been in attendance but has sucked. Really bad. He has been 2-9 with 1 run and 2 RBIs over his last 2 games against the two worst teams in the league. He now sits at 15th in the team in hitting.
Meanwhile his partner-in-crime has been on absolute fire. You may remember the season preview in which a unnamed blogger laughed in Everett’s face about his lofty goal to win a triple crown.
Ev’s 2023 season through 8 weeks:
- .684 BA (5th)
- 6 HR (1st)
- 25 RBIs (1st)
Well.
Anything is possible, but Ev still has quite a lot of ground to make up to reach the top of the batting title race. A position that belongs to J-Rich for the time being. Jon is currently hitting a ridiculous .808 (21/26) followed closely behind by our charming two-time champion at .800 (32/40). With it being unlikely RJ (.786) and Cirincione (.714) hit the minimum (both currently have 14 ABs), Ev has a genuine shot to finish in the top 3. Kudos to the kid. Comeback Player of the Year.
This will also be the last time you hear from the GM this week as James Loesch will make his 2023 debut and write the game recap Sunday. He hasn’t volunteered or anything, but he’s going to do it.
For those curious, here are the stats as of Week 8:
