Est. 2008 | Home of 6x DSSL Champs

This game was accepted almost entirely because management was under the impression that Kevin would be back by in time for the game. He was not. If you’re like Kevin and missed the game, here’s the recap:

  • Ev shows up late (again), but hits for cycle (kind of?) and goes 5-5
  • One-Leg and Munchie’s potty mouths caught on hot mics
  • Donnie shows up and homers twice
  • Stoners pitcher triggers Shane then exacts his revenge
  • Baylous banned from outfield after trying to kill Pio, Matty is not
  • Stoners are getting better

After a brief delay due to scattered showers and an untimely bowel movement for Shane White, the game was underway. What happened after that was, well, shocking. In what felt like a repeat of the 2021 playoffs, before MVP stepped up to the plate on Sunday they found themselves down 8-0 to the Stoners.

What. The. Fuck.

It actually got so bad that the GM walked off the field and had Matty Baylous replace him in right; only to have the next batter launch the ball well over the young golfer’s head for a home run. To make things worse, the GM, his taller brother, and Shane let the Stoners get some reps in the field going down 1,2,3.

Stoners 8-0

Thankfully, the middle of the lineup had the faintest of pulses delivering 3 runs, including a 2-run blast from Z-Dubs. After that, it appeared the law of averages began to take effect and MVP figured out how to hit, at least, most of MVP did. 8 runs later, MVP took the lead and never looked back.

The Brew Crew lineup consistently put on runs from the 5th inning onwards and tightened up defensively. Only a couple miscues were made, both behind the dish, in which Matty and One-Leg each uncharacteristically misplayed throws from superstar shortstop, Shane White, resulting in some Stoner runs.

Fortunately for the MVP backstops, Mike Donegan appeared determined to save the game himself. After being called out in the blog for the second time this year, Mike showed up and delivered a two homer performance and, in all honestly, could have had three had the Stoners outfield not made a remarkable play to track it down. All the while, third base coach, Munch, did not communicate with team speedsters, Zach White and Jon Rich, that they needed to tag up. Costing Michael a perfect day at the plate. Good going, Nick.

It also appears that tagging up was an issue across both lineups as that same inning, a Stoners baserunner attempted to tag up and clearly either cannot see or does not know the rules and began advancing. The GM and 1-Leg were both on the bench unsure whether to challenge the call. After reviewing with the replay team coordinator, Mrs. Merrill, the GM had the team appeal and a very honest Stoners player corrected the call. An impressive display of sportsmanship that MVP greatly appreciates.

What was less impressive was that another player on the Stoners rubbed Shane the wrong way. While details surrounding the situation are fuzzy, it appears after the unnamed Stoners player hit a hard grounder to Shane and rolled into the outfield, this player laughed and mocked Shane. Feeling bold, he then tried to push it into a double, Everett Wehr style, and like Everett, it did not work. In fact, it worked out so unfortunately for this player that when he tried diving back into first, instead of receiving a gentleman-like tag, he found himself diving back into the GM. On the ground, defeated, the GM decided to take it one step further in an effort to protect his guys…

Proving he doesn’t need anyone to fight his battles, Shane decided his public humiliation tour had one more stop. Shane stepped up to lead off the inning and, you can’t write this up any better, blast a low rising missile over his head and into a different zip code.

Ups and downs, rain and shine, this game had everything except Ryan James’ kids.
