I’m aware that this recap is late, while not as late as Everett, late nonetheless. Let’s dive in on how MVP’s youngest lineup in league history got the club to their fourth win in a row. Beat that, Cleveland.
- Shohei or J-Rich? Allows 5 and goes 4-4
- Munch wins costume day
- Rizz makes late push for batting title
- Brady collects first hit of year
- GM misses first presser of year; faces fines from Commissioner
I am typically cynical, however, what can we say besides Jon Rich had one of the most impressive days I’ve seen on a softball field. In an Ohtani-esque performance, Rich allowed a season-low 5 runs and nearly had more hits than the Bagas runs going 4-4 with a pair of ribeye steaks. This truly was a masterclass from the former Rookie of the Year.
Only to be topped, by a feat that we can all agree may never happen again; Munch, dressed as a character from Brokeback Mountain, delivered a back-breaking, bases-clearing double to put MVP in the driver’s seat during the 2nd inning on Sunday. A shot heard ‘round the world, or at the very least, a hit that has inspired the next generation of LGBTQIA+ softball enthusiasts to soar to new heights this Pride Month.
Salute to you, Munchie 🏳️🌈.
Meanwhile, another Nick on the club had a statement to make. While it wasn’t as flamboyant as Munchie, Rizz delivered a 4-5 performance and has reminded everyone that he is still a formidable threat to win the batting title. Is Rizz back?
Like this blog, Sunday’s game between two heavyweights was a quickie, Kyle Baylous style. Efficient and effective with very little pizazz.
MVP didn’t knock the cover off the ball, they simply played well. Tidy defense and some timely hitting across the board helped MVP hand the Bagas their second loss of the season and this GM is more than ok with a performance like that.
Looking forward to next week, MVP was able to secure a 4th of July weekend game….against the Stoners. A game is a game and it gives plenty MVP regulars a chance to boost those averages.
Saving the best for last, cougars across the zip code will finally get what they have patiently waited for all season: the season debut of one of MVP’s finest.
