Est. 2008 | Home of 6x DSSL Champs

It’s that time of the year where trees are decorated, gifts are exchanged, and resolutions that will certainly be broken by January 3rd are made. It is the holiday season and the end of another year. A year in which we here at MVP will remember quite fondly. Mainly because we finally overthrew Tom Loesch and won what I’m sure will be the first of many championships under new management.

We have had some highs, some lows, but we all survived, even Ryan James, unfortunately.

Here is 2022 in a nutshell:

Since May, this blog has been the home of all things MVP and it has been received quite well amongst pretty much everyone, except Zach White when he played third base who redeemed himself quite remarkably. In a regular season bookended by 2 pitiful losses, MVP went on its longest winning streak in franchise history (10) and finished with a season high in wins (13) (UNCONFIRMED).

At the end of the day, the wins never really mattered. I can say that now.

What really mattered was MVP finally created a culture that is more dysfunctional family than world-class club and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We added some great personalities like Slinky, ZDubs, and Rizz (I’m aware he played last year but his sub .400 average made him “dead” to former management). We saw some old faces crawl back for better or for worse, (mostly better) in the form of Brady and Muscles. And, finally, saying goodbye to the Cutinella gang who are now graciously hosting the southern part of the 2023 MVP US Tour.

More to come on that.

I also want to congratulate my better looking colleague on the blog, James Loesch, for his smash hit, “That’s Your Dad?: Softball, Sunday’s, and Life as Tom Loesch’s Son”, which broke Barnes and Noble’s record for most female readership in a calendar year.

I also suppose this is the part where I should congratulate Ryan James on winning his first batting title despite his feeble effort to meet the old minimum for qualification.

To wrap up 2022, a big thank you to Bubba, Munch, and Slinky for their dedication to providing our loyal viewership to countless laughs during the off-season with the launch of their new series, MVP Sportsbook. While it’s clear Weslie James could pick pictures of mascots and be about as successful as those 3 taking plays, they have been an unlikely source of entertainment. Thinking about it now, I will have Weslie James pick pictures of mascots and see how see does against the panel soon in what will be a PG-episode because she’s 3.

Looking ahead to 2023, MVP is excited to announce quite a few initiatives and is open to any and all suggestions which players and fans can send to management via our “MVP Tip Line”.

Here are some initiatives to come in the new year:

MVP is looking for in-game commentators and contributors for Instagram and potentially, TikTok.

MVP Insider is looking for writers! Please submit a 500 word thought piece alongside a shirtless headshot and the team will review.

There will be a minor rise in the league fee this year for all players to a modest $25,050. This is for our 20-man roster to cover the league fee, beer, blog maintenance, and our bid (min. $500,000) to host a 2023 College Football Bowl Game. Please submit the best names in our Tip Line (link above) and the winners will be selected in March.

Finally, the MVP Brew Crew has been selected by GQ as the “Team of the Year.” A dream Tom Loesch never quite saw come to fruition during his tenure. Congratulations to the boys.

To wrap things up, thank you to everyone for their countless contributions and congratulations to MVP on a very successful 2022 and Happy Holidays.

Here’s to 2023 and another year of good health, good softball, and good times.
