Est. 2008 | Home of 6x DSSL Champs

Early this week, DSSL Commissioner, Scott Schmidt, announced in a league-wide message that no team can hit more than 14 players in the 2022 playoffs.

Sorry, I don’t make the rules here.

Actually, I do.

Due to an overwhelming and greatly appreciated attendance rate (a franchise-record 60% “In” rate), the MVP Board of Trustees have agreed that the regular season is for fun and the postseason is for winning and fun, but mostly winning. It’s a new era and we’re looking to dethrone the Bagas.

Because MVP qualified for the playoffs with their win over the Bagas (see MVP Wins in Nail-Biter Against Bagas), this rule will apply to us. Kinda.

That being said, the days of 16-18 guys in a lineup is unlikely come the postseason, unless the GM feels the match-up is favorable as, we have come to learn, things can turn quickly on any given Sunday. This is due to the fact that most players have complained that there is a better chance Loesch grows hair than them getting 3 at-bats in a game. While we have no reason to worry about the former, the latter is very much a real threat to MVP’s dynamic lineup.

How management will decide who is playing in the postseason is to be determined. However, the prospect of using the .500 mark for a baseline batting average has been taken into consideration. While it is not official, it is a potential parameter.

Game attendance, COOLER PICK-UPS *hint hint*, overall attitude, MVP tenure, defensive versatility, in-game BAC level, outstanding payments to MVP (not a bribe, just the upfront season fee, we’re honest people here. Unless…), and whether or not the GM likes you (we know who I’m talking about) are all under the umbrella of the board’s consideration set.

*Munch* your current batting title has allowed for you to play upon your return. Yes, this is nepotism in practice, get over it. He won a batting title and is an asset at the hot corner.

Sorry, that was insensitive. I mean, c’mon. It’s pretty funny though. Kiddo.

That being said, the GM said he will continue to pencil in 30 guys, including 1-Leg’s lovely mother, if need be during a regular season game because we here at MVP appreciate the growing support and commitment we get out of our roster. However, it is the GM’s job to field a competitive squad and a smaller postseason lineup is the best way to do so.

Also – as a way to cover his own ass, the GM added a very successful and highly-attended inaugural 4th of July game as a way to make up for some playoff match-ups that may require a tighter lineup (if we can get passed the 1st round of course).

If you have any complaints, feel free to reach out to our Instagram and Captain KB will direct you from there.

MVP is seeking their 1st title since 2019 and a 3rd since MVP’s return to the DSSL in 2008.
